Snow White illustrated by Theodor Hosemann
Little Snow-White is a fairy tale number 53 in the collection of Household and Children’s Tales by Brothers Grimm. Today it’s more known as Snow White and Seven Dwarfs.
It’s a story about a girl who lost her mother and gets and evil step mother what makes it similar to Cinderella or Hansel and Gretel. But in this case the confrontation between the protagonist (Snow White) and antagonist (evil queen) is the most direct of all.
Let’s summarize the story with a help of vintage illustrations from a picture book illustrated by Theodor Hosemann (1807-1875).
As you can see, we have an opportunity to admire a scan of a very rare edition from 1852. It was published in Iceland but with pictures of one of the most famous German illustrators of the time.
The evil queen danced in the heated shoes until she died. Snow White and her prince lived happily ever after.
